Ben serves as the Resident Lighting Designer where he has lit acts such as Dion, John Prine, Kirk Franklin, Yo LA Tengo, Stephaie Mills, Gladys Knight, Machel Montano, Tessanne Chin, and Hezekiah Walker.
The $95 million project features an authentic restoration of the original 1929 design. Original plaster and painting schemes have been restored, vintage carpet and seating have been recreated and historic lighting fixtures have been renovated and re-installed. Technical improvements included expanding staging facilities, a new theatre rigging system, new dressing rooms and professional sound and lighting systems. The Kings also features a reconfigurable orchestra section to allow for small and large GA configurations as well as a variety of removable curtains to change the size of the overall space.
